What’s the point putting in hours at the gym, just to sit at home and not show off the goods? However, alcohol is most common during such social events. So, what do you do? A lot of people assume that consuming alcohol while losing weight is not possible, so they rather not even try to get into shape and just go out and binge drink with friends instead.

“So, what’s the answer? Can we drink and still lose weight? Can we drink beer? What about taking shots? I just what to know if I can still go out with my friends and still get results!”

Hey, hey relax! To answer your question: YES, it is possible. Since alcohol does have calories like other foods that we consume, track it accordingly. As mentioned in my other posts, as long as you’re in a caloric deficit (eating less calories than you are burning), you will lose weight!

So, what does all this mean? First, we have to understand the math part of it. If you track macronutrients like I do, you know that Carbs and Protein are 4 calories per gram. Fats are 9 calories per gram and Alcohol is 7 calories per gram.

Getting drunk off mixed drinks or beers are going to be the worst for you because of the excess amounts of calories you consume will be very high. I also advise to drink in moderation and do not over consume.

In conclusion, if you’re like me, you still want a life and enjoy time going out with your friends. Just try not to get drunk every weekend like I have in the past. Keep everything in moderation and you will be fine.
